COVID - 19

Update:
I continue to be committed to the safety and well-being of my clients. In efforts to stop the spread of Covid-19, I ask that in-person sessions be rescheduled or conducted virtually if you:

  • are experiencing fever, cough, sneezing, or difficulty breathing
  • have a positive test result for covid or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for covid within 14-days

Thank you for your ongoing cooperation and understanding.

SERVICES

I understand how difficult it can be to take that initial first step and the importance of the counsellor client relationship in the healing process. To ensure a good fit, I offer a free 20-minute phone or video consultation. I’m happy to answer any questions you have about how counselling can help you and what to expect from the process.

Counselling sessions are typically 50 minutes in length and vary in frequency. The number of sessions is dependent on need and the challenges brought forward. Some people find great relief after only one session, while others prefer to check in weekly, monthly, or as needed. In-person and virtual service options are available.

Individual Adult Counselling

Offering personalized, attentive one-on-one support in a safe environment for neurodivergent individuals as well as those dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, and more. Through a collaborative effort, we will deepen our understanding of the problem and develop goals to reduce emotional distress and promote optimal mental health. Through therapy, better relationships, an improved sense of self, and better living is possible.

Child & Youth 11+ Counselling

Youth with neurodiverse abilities and mental health issue frequently struggle to navigate the complexities of life, causing difficulties within the home, in school, and in community. Many feel alone in their struggles and develop ineffective coping mechanisms. Although parents and caregivers do the absolute best they can, at times, youth may benefit from extra support. I offer a safe space for youth to feel heard, understood, and accepted. Where they are supported to develop improved habits and skills relating to emotion, self-care, relationships, and executive functioning.

Parents and caregivers play a pivotal role in the successful outcome of their child’s therapy experience. Parental involvement ensures I have a more complete picture of the struggles their child encounters, allows time for parents’ concerns to be addressed, and strengthens the family unit. Prior to initiating counselling with a youth, parents and caregivers will be required to engage in an intake session as well as follow-up support sessions.

Parent & Guardian Counselling

Being a parent/caregiver can be the most rewarding experience that brings about feelings of joy, pride, and love. It can also be extremely challenging, bringing about feelings of helplessness, exhaustion, and isolation. If you feel depleted in your parenting skills and increasingly disconnected with your child, you’re not alone.

The goal of parent/caregiver support is to help re-establish confidence and skills in your abilities, to gain insight about both your and your child’s behaviour, and to find patience and empathy with yourself and your child as you begin to nurture healthier, more peaceful ways of connecting.

Family Counselling

The family system is made up of the unique individuals within it. The relationships within it can be some of the most essential ones we form. Nevertheless, with the increased demands on time and attention, these relationships may get neglected, or even taken for granted, causing undue stress. As families encounter ongoing difficult life events and transitions, their ability to connect and communicate may become further strained.

Family counselling aims to honour the unique needs of the family unit while helping them navigate difficult times. By providing a safe space where families develop effective coping mechanisms and communication skills, tensions are eased, bonds are strengthened, and families experience reharmonization.

Nature Based Counselling

Time spent in connection with nature can play a profound role in helping heal your mind, body, and spirit. Our ancestral roots are in nature, however, in this ever advancing fast-paced world we are slowly, and unnoticeably becoming increasingly detached from this essence of being human. Nature has been fundamental to my own sense of being and why I choose to offer this as part of my practice. Joining me in nature for a session can help quiet your mind and give space for deeper reflection and growth. Please let me know if this approach appeals to you when booking a session.

Group Counselling

Group counselling offers an opportunity to learn with and from one another in an environment that is supportive, positive, and uplifting. Group participation allows us to see that we are not alone in our struggles and reduces feelings of isolation. This shared experience fosters feelings of hope and courage, and it may open up pathways for moving forward that might not emerge in individual counselling.
